After publication of the above statement, EDRA moved to create the Diversity and Equity Committee in 2020 to further solidify our commitment to welcoming all. The work is an ongoing process of learning, education, and exploration.
The mission of the Diversity and Equity committee is to pursue strategies to enhance awareness of and participation in the sport of distance riding by Black, Indigenous, and youth of color. We recognize that these strategies may be developmental in nature, including but not limited to support of basic introductory activities, workshops or clinics offered to youth and their families; partnerships with organizations who traditionally serve underserved youth; and participation in other networking or educational opportunities to achieve our mission.
