EDRA in Motion aims to get members moving, whether by horse- or human-powered means! Track your daily miles and enter them before the 15th of the following month to earn awards in various distance and weight categories!
EDRA in Motion Overview
EDRA’s motto is to “Start Ready, Finish Proud” and includes a focus on preparing both equine and rider for the demands of competitive distance riding. The EDRA in Motion Challenge is a program offered to EDRA members as a motivational tool – not just for the preparation of their equine partner, but to also encourage the rider to improve or maintain their own fitness. We urge EDRA members to move and to keep moving.
To enroll, simply review the rules and then submit your miles! It’s easy and a fun way to get to know more about your fellow members!

How the Challenge Works
When: January 1 – December 31, 2026
Who: Open to all active EDRA members, regardless of age
How to Join: Simply submit miles for any eligible month—your first submission automatically enrolls you
Flexibility: Join anytime during 2026 and submit miles for remaining months
New for 2026: Members who join EDRA on or before April 15, 2026, may submit miles for January–March as long as they are submitted no later than April 15. (Miles from April forward must be submitted no later than the 15 th of the following month.)
And if you miss the initial start date, don’t worry – members may join the competition at any time during 2026, submitting miles for any remaining eligible months.
What Counts as “Movement”?
Any human-powered or horse-powered activity that can be measured in miles, including:
✅Walking, hiking, or running
✅Horseback riding or driving
✅Bicycling (non e-bikes)
✅Indoor cardio equipment (treadmill, elliptical, rowing machine, stationary bike)
And more!
You can even combine multiple activities in a single day—just report one total daily mileage (minimum 0.5 miles per day).
Awards & Recognition
- Completion Award for members who log 100 miles or more during the course of the year
- High Mileage Awards by:
- Weight Class (I, II, III, and Youth)
- Distance Divisions based on daily mileage totals
Your current EDRA membership information is used to determine your EDRA in Motion weight class category.
