Just got back from the first EDRA ride of the year- Don’t Fence Me In. A great time was had by all. Been a long time since this nw group had got together. I was sidelined with a knee and had lots of time to stand back and observe-
i really liked what I saw and I don’t throw around accolades cheapl!
At the pre ride vet in I saw well conformed and fit horses handled by capable horsemen.
at the first out vet check I saw horses recovering fast, eating and drinking well.
By the time I got back to camp from the out check the first 50 mile horses were showing. They looked fresh, strong and sound.
the first 6 or 8 finished within minutes of each other and all under 5:30 or so, a great pace!
There were some impressive horses in the 30 miler and very, very few pulls! I think EDRA can reach back and give themselves a big pat on the back. Looks to me like all the mentoring, information sharing and overall attitude of helping your fellow EDRA member is paying off big time In better prepped horse- rider teams!
I would like to thank all the great volunteers we had and hope some of them can come down for the great Trout Lake ride coming in less than 3 weeks! Hope all u riders can come too.
