Recap: Intro to Endurance Racing Clinic (Libby, MT)

EDRA sanctioned an Intro To Endurance Racing clinic this past weekend on our property near Libby Montana. Kudos to Shayne Russell for rallying the EDRA volunteers to conduct an A+ clinic. The event included several classes that covered everything from ride meetings, to check in, to vet check, to navigation using ribbons and GPS just to name a few topics. The clinic included an actual 4.5 mile trail ride where new and interested riders were required to navigate using ribbons. The riders were required to conduct a vet check and had vet cards completed for their horses. The attendees were engaged and asked many questions during the classes and QA sessions. The event included great food and 2 slash fires. I am sure Shayne will add more highlights and recognize all the incredible EDRA volunteers who made this event a great success..

Our first clinic was a success and so much fun…truly amazing! Thank you Terry James, Julie James, Alex Gesheva and Jennifer Kaplan for being our amazing, informative and inspiring speakers:) You all made a great impression:)!

And much thanks to our experienced trail ride mentors Bonnie Girod, Nancy Neuman, Alex and myself.

The mentor guided trail ride with trot outs before and after with vet cards and mock vet check and and pulsing was truly inspiring:)

Our mentors had riders take turns leading and practice passing one another and that’s just a few things of many and training they did:)

Oh I have to mention that Jennifer did an amazing job explaining the difference between horse training and conditioning:)

Terry did amazing demonstrating and explaining you can never be too old to start doing this beloved sport 🥰

Thank you Susan Summers and Sandra Cheek for your support and ideas to help me put this together so well:)

We were encouraged by the participants to do another one in the Spring, perhaps a spring tune up with a conditioning trail ride with the ride calendar coming up 🙂
And we had a rainbow appear as the riders came in from the trail ride for the mock vetting..was so cool and just a beautiful blessing 😇🌈
